I may be the last to know about this FREE Sign Language app called Spread Signs:

If you have a recommendation of a sign language app that would be good for parents of deaf children, please let me know.  I’m trying to update resources.

I’m excited about this FREE app (Bitsboard) to use for vocabulary building with children

Video of how it is being used in a classroom

How I have used it
I took pictures of the images the Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) is using with a deaf student to help build her vocabulary.  I imported the pictures in Bitsboard.  I typed the text of the image and also imported the images that Bitsboard had available so the student could see the image in a different context  Various games come with the “board” you create.  I turned off some that were dependent on sound.  Some of the options I used included FLASHCARD, TRUE/FALSE, POP QUIZ, MATCHING, WORD SEARCH, TRACE…

I can see using this to learn names of family members (by importing family photos), objects around the house, etc.

If you and your child’s teacher use an iPad; the teacher can create a board, upload to a Dropbox account, and provide you the link so your child can practice the vocabulary at home.  Boards can also be made public for use.  Progress can be emailed.

Check it out and let me know how you are using it.
