- What a great turnout at April’s E.A.T. event at DeafConnect (around 50 people attended!). They are trying to plan the next E.A.T event for June. Stay tuned.
I heard it was a beneficial time at the Health Event held prior to E.A.T. Event
- It was a small turnout at the MTRID meeting. We were encouraged to spread the word about the upcoming CERT training.
- Rhodes College Students and Barbara Harrison did a great job with their “sports” theme at “Read with Me/Sign with Me”. There is one more session for this school year.
- I forgot to thank DeafConnect for the opportunity to volunteer at their Tax Day the previous week.

CERT Training
Please see the updated flyer of the CERT training. It includes the time start time of8:00 a.m. and the cost associated with the training. RSVP by April 13th to Summer Chappell via summer@deafconnectmidsouth.org or call 901-278-9307.

Interpreters needing CEUs: $60 (1.6 Professional Studies CEUs)
Community members not needing CEUs: $30
Payment will include lunch provided for both days of training. NO REFUNDS will be given after the first day of training has started.
Part 2 training date April 23.

During an incident, emergency service personnel may not be able to reach everyone right away. The training is 8 hours per session. A minimum of 15 people are required. Interpreters will be provided.

Workshop at DeafConnect about estate planning.
The Cardwell Firm, PLLC is sponsoring a one-hour seminar held at DeafConnect. The importance of estate planning will be presented to the Deaf Community.
The "four legs of a solid estate plan" will be discussed- the last will, the financial power of attorney, the health care power of attorney and the living will. Specific considerations regarding whom to name in the various roles will be discussed.
