Bell Work- How many cells are produced after one round of meiosis? 4 cells
The students were instructed to find definitions of the following words:
1. Allele- one of two or more alternative forms of a gene for a particular trait
2. Dominant- gene that produces the same phenotype in the organism whether or not its allele identical
3. Genetics- science of heredity
4. Phenotype- observable characteristic that is expressed as a result of an allele pair
5. Genotype- an organism’s allele pairs
6. Heterozygous- organism with two different alleles for a specific a trait
7. Homozygous- organism with two of the same alleles for a specific trait
8. Hybrid- organism heterozygous for a specific trait
9. Recessive – a specific trait that is hidden
