* All of our cells have a nucleus.
What makes our cells different from bacteria? Our cells have a nucleus. The cells in our bodies have a nucleus. What is inside the nucleus? DNA is inside.
Very Important Concept: Different between Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells. (This is on the EOC test and a large part of it as well.)
Eukaryotes:
DNA is a nucleus. Has cell membrane, but no cell wall
It has a membrane bound organelles (has an outer boundary that allows materials in and out) .
Larger in size
Eukaryote Classification: Kingdom Protista, Kingdom Fungi, Kingdom Plantae, and Kingdom Animalia
Prokaryotes:
Has cell wall and cell membrane. No nucleus; lacks most of the organelles that Eukaryotes have.
They lack membrane-bound organelles.
Smaller in size than Eukaryotes
Classification: Kingdom Eubacteria and one other
Similarities between Eukaryotes and Prokaryotes:
Both have:
Cell/plasma membrane
DNA
Ribosomes (makes protein)
Cytoplasm
