Bell work_ Read Pages 173—175 in “Lion Book,” and answer Question 4 on page 175.

Question 4: How did Darwin explain the similarities and differences between the species of Galapagos finches (bird)?

Answer: The finches all had different beaks related to the environment they lived in- example: shorter, stronger or long skinny beak.  The different shaped beaks were dependent upon where they lived and the food source.

Observations- checking something out, looking closely

Anesthetics- Medicine/drug that numbs pain

Darwin decided he would be a naturalist and he would go on a voyage.  He collected thousands of specimens of plants, animals, and fossils.

Collected specimens- Darwin collected examples of evidence of organisms (living things with at least one cell).

Species remains constant- in the past the thought was that things remained unchanged, but this is not true.

Change in species overtime is called Evolution.
