Note:  Mario and Jaelynn need to review the exercise below.  Mario, did you finish the test re-take I gave you to do last week?

  1. Do Now! = W.C. bk. Pg. 509, Ex. 22.  You do not have to write sentences.  Follow the instructions.   We’re looking for a noun, or an adj., or a pronoun.
  2. Laresa, Camryn, and I turned in work.  I turned in a re-take test for Jaelynn but don’t know if that will receive any credit; we’ll have to wait and see.

To all:  Note on finding direct objects:

They can’t be objects of prepositions, nouns following words like:  in, on, by, from, beside….etc,

He hit the ball.  = ball = d.o.
He hit the ball across the park.   =park = is NOT a d.o. but an o. p. (object of preposition)

To all:  Note on simple subjects and predicates:

Underline ONLY who or what the sentence is talking about and what do/did the subject do:

Ex:  The Federal government collects and spends Americans tax revenue.
Note:   you have a compound predicate: collects & spends
Note:  “Federal” is an adjective describing government.
            Tax is used as a adjective saying “what kind of” revenue.  It is the d.o.
