Mutualism
|
+
+
|
Two
organisms help each other and they both benefit (good for both)
|
Predation
|
+
-
|
(Predator/Prey)
Predator kills the prey. + predator eats, - prey dies
|
Commensalism
|
+
/
|
Good
for one animal. Not good or bad for one animal
|
Parasitism
|
+
-
|
Good
for the parasite (gets food) and bad for the host (it hurts)
|
1. Mutualism ++
Two organisms
live and work together (they help each other) it is good for both.
Example: Bee/Flower Relationship
Bee (+) because of
nutrition
Flower (+) because makes
new flowers (spreads pollen)
2. Predation + -
Predator/Prey:
It is good for the predator because they get nutrition (food) but is bad for
the prey because they die and get eaten.
Example: Eagle/Mouse
Eagle
(predator) (+) Good because gets protection
Mouse (prey) (-) because gets
nutrition
3. Commensalism +/
The host is not helped or
hurt and the other animal benefits (is helped) because
Example:
Clown Fish/Anemone
Clown Fish (+) because
gets protection from the anemone
Anemone
(/) not helped or hurt
4. Parasitism +-
One organism needs a host to live. Good for the
parasite and bad for the host. The parasite takes nutrients from the host.
Example: Tick/Dog
Tick (+) because it gets nutrition (blood) from the host
Dog (-) it hurts the dog (host)
