LANDFORMS and NATURAL RESOURCES


1.     AGENTS OF EROSION: Wind, Water, Ice, Gravity

2.     EROSION: moves pieces of rock or dirt

3.     WEATHERING: breaks rocks into smaller pieces

4.     MINERALS: Zinc, Aluminum, limestone

5.     Earthquakes and volcanoes are more common at PLATE BOUNDARIES.

6.     3 TYPES OF PLATE MOVEMENT: Divergent, Convergent, Strike Slip

7.     DIVERGENT BOUNDARY: When two plates move away from each other

8.     TRENCH: A deep valley marking a collision of plates, where one plate slides under another.

9.     IRRIGATION: Process by which water is artificially supplied to the land

10.   AQUEDUCTS: Artificial channels for transporting water

11.   HOT SPOT: Hawaii

12.   MAGMA: Liquid rock within the Earth

13.   MANTLE: Middle of the Earth where liquid rock is found

14.   CRUST: Layer of the Earth can be up to 25 miles thick

15.   FOSSIL FUELS: Oil and coal

16.   RICHTER SCALE: A scale used for measuring the intensity of an earthquake.

17.   NATURAL RESOURCES:

a.      Soil and Forests: Trees, Minerals (Coal, Natural gas, Fossil Fuels)
b.     Air and Water: Air, water, Oceans, Lakes
c.      Minerals: Limestone, Aluminum, zinc, sand
d.     Energy Resources: Fossil Fuels, Solar Power, Wind Power
e.      Vegetation
