We had a great meeting today! We are very glad to have new members come in. We have decided that we will be meeting weekly, so every Thursday from 2:30-3:30. We are doing a little room flip-flopping, but for now keep meeting in/outside/near Mrs. Ferrell's room (M218B). You will get an email if that changes.

Deaf Culture

1. Deaf means the person accepts deaf culture and uses sign language

2. deaf means the person might be hard of hearing and speaks, do not necessarily sign

3. How to appropriately get a deaf person's attention

     a. wave

     b. tap on the shoulder

4. How to get the attention of a group of deaf individuals

     a. turn the lights on and off

     b. really loud noise (heavy vibrations)

Also, I know I've said this before but I highly encourage everyone to watchSwitched At Birth on Tuesday's at 7:00pm on ABC Family. You'll be surprised how much you can learn from just watching others sign. (and if you miss it, the previous week's episode comes on at 6:00 right before the new one)
